What I’m currently up to
Last updated: March 2026
What is this page?
This page is a list of the things I’m currently doing, following the format laid out by the /now movement.
This page has a dual purpose:
- It helps you know what I’m up to (if you’re so inclined)
- It helps me be aware of all the stuff I’m doing 😶🌫️
🎯 Building Kairos
I’m Co-Director and CEO of Kairos, an AI safety fieldbuilding organization focused on supporting talent to work on risks from advanced AI. We spun off from CEA in mid-2024 and have been growing fast since.
Some of the things I’m focusing on:
- Running SPAR Spring 2026: 136 projects pairing 400+ mentees with 120+ mentors. This is the largest round of any AI safety research fellowship to date.
- Scaling the team: We’re growing from 4 people to 8+, hiring across generalist, operations, and director roles.
- Rewriting our internal stack: Migrating all of Kairos’s internal tooling to a monorepo built on Convex, replacing a patchwork of Airtable bases and scripts.
🔐 Side projects
I have a couple of Rust projects I work on when I have time:
- Tacet: A Bayesian timing side-channel detection library. It uses principled uncertainty quantification to produce three-way verdicts (pass/fail/inconclusive) instead of forcing binary decisions under noisy conditions. I submitted a paper to USENIX Security ‘26.
- OxCrypt: A fast, memory-safe Cryptomator client. I wrote the crypto core a while back and recently picked it back up, adding FUSE, WebDAV, NFS, and CLI support. Roughly 2–3× faster than the official Java client on metadata-heavy operations.
📚 Finishing my degree
This is my last semester of Computer Science Engineering at UC Chile. I’m taking a databases course (IIC3413) and an innovation & entrepreneurship course (ING2030), where my team is working on a project related to children’s literacy in Chile. Nearly done!
